Biodiesel
Broad prospects development of biodiesel
Biodiesel is produced from renewable lipids resources, such as vegetable oils or animal fats obtained in a long-chain fatty acid alkyl monoester. "Bio" means relative to petroleum diesel, it is a renewale biological resources. Biodiesel as an alternative fuel, can be used in pure state or blended with petroleum diesel. It certainly help to save resources and becomes the mainstream developing trend.
Advantages of biodiesel
First of all, it can be obtained from local renewable resource, so we can reduce dependence on imports of petroleum fuel; Secondly, it is biodegradable and non-toxic. Compared with petroleum diesel, biodiesel has many advantages in combustion and emission, such as lower emission of carbon monoxide, particulate matter and unburned hydrocarbons. Carbon dioxide produced by biodiesel combustion can circulate through photosynthesis cycle, the combustion of biodiesel impact on the greenhouse effect is minimized. Biodiesel has a high flash point than petroleum diesel with low volatility, making it safer in the storage and transportaion. The biodiesel has lubrication properties can reduce the wear of the engine, thus extending the life of the engine. In short, these advantages of biodiesel make it become a good substitute of petroleum diesel, and has been used in many countries, especially in the countries more emphasis on the environment.
