Nasi Uduk is a Betawi-style steamed rice dish cooked in coconut milk and fragrant with the smell and flavor of lemongrass as wel as a handful of spices such as cloves (cengkeh), cinnamon (kayu manis), galangale root, and ginger (jahe).
Nasi Uduk is often served with fried tofu and tempe, fried chicken, Indonesian style beef stew (semur), raw vegetables and sambal. Like fried rice (nasi goreng), Uduk is eaten for breakfast, lunch or supper.
