HOANG GIA GLASS Corporation uses the thermal process to enhance the basic strength of float glass. Tempered glass is heat treated strengthened glass which gives far better impact resistance and is safer than ordinafy glass. It is made of high quality ordinary glass. It is made of high quality ordinary float glass that was heated to the softening point and then is rapidly cooled by precisely controlled uniform blast of cold air to greatly toughen its surface compressive stress and retain its original quality.
- This process, however, does not alter the visible light and solar radiant heat properties of the glass. Fully tempered glass must have a surface compression of more than 10.000 psi (normal float glass is below 3.500 psi). Wind pressure, foreign object impact and thermal stresses on other applied loads must first overcome this compression before there is a possibility of breakage.

CHARACTERISTICS
1. High Strength:
Tempered glass is three of four times mechanically stronger than those of float glass of the same type and thichness.
2. High Thermal-Shock Strength:
A sudden change in temperature of abou 40-500C is enough to break the glass. Tempered Glass can stand changes of 1500C without breaking.
3. High Safety:
When ordinary glass is broken, it forms sharp, knife-like fragment.Tempered glass breaks into small separately harmless pieces in the form of particles without sharp edges, thus unlikely to cause serious injury.
