Aromatherapy Properties: Stimulating, revitalizing, aphrodisiac, warming, comforting, purifying and reminiscing. Medicinally, clove is used for acne, bruises, burns, tooth-ache, sore joints and muscles, nausea, colds and flu.
Suggested Uses: For general infections diffuse in the general environment with a fan diffuser or vaporizer. Sprinkle a few drops in a hot steam shower and breath in deep to help with cold and flu symptoms. Clove makes a wonderful holiday scent air freshener, just place 10-15 drops in a small misting bottle of distilled water. Clove can be sprinkled on a dry log before placing in the fireplace to bring on a warming essence to a burning fire.
Blends Well With: Orange, sandalwood, cedarwood and frankincense.
History: Clove was one of the first spices and aromas to be imported and exported in ancient times. The dried spice steeped in wine, was given to ease the pain of childbirth but in not recommended in modern day.
Safety Note: Clove oil can be irritating to the skin in it natural form and should be diluted in a carrier oil. Clove should be avoided during pregnancy and not use at all with babies, and children of any age. Always test on a small area of skin for sensitivity.
