This carpet is made from pure silk. (both foundation and plile). This carpet's pastel colors have since faded, probably due to the sun bleaching effect of the Iran desert sun. The Dark black and Red colors that are present appear to be from a restoration effort within the past 50 years. Those restoration efforts have paid off. This carpet absolutely beautiful and would be nice for your family floor, or to hang on a wall, as a tapistry.
