Cast Alnico Magnets

Cast Alnico is manufactured by pouring a molten metal alloy into a mold and then further processing it through various heat-treat cycles. The resulting magnet has a dark gray exterior appearance, and may have a rough surface. Machined surfaces have a shiny appearance similar to steel. It permits high temperature operation. Cast Alnico 5 is the most commonly used in the industry: rotating machinery, motors, and instruments, sensor devices, holding applications and so on. Alnico 8 and Alnico 9 has a higher coercive force and is usually used in disc shapes.

Sintered Alnico Magnets

Sintered Alnico is manufactured by compacting fine Alnico powder in a press, and then sintering the compacted powder into a solid magnet. It is usually restricted to smaller sizes and offers slightly lower magnetic properties, but has tighter dimensional tolerances due to its processing.

Description: Alnico Cow magnets, our annual output is 2,000,000 pcs, widely to veterinary, feed supply and scientific supply sources. When the cow grazes, it often consumes and swallows what is called tramp iron: baling and barbed wire, nails, staples, and other metallic objects. These tramp iron is indigestible and tends to lodge in the honeycombed walls of the reticulum, causing irritation and inflammation, known as Hardware Disease, resulting in lower milk production for diary cattle or lower weight gain for feeder stock.

Cow magnets help prevent this disease by attracting stray metal from being lodged in the animal’s tissue. A rancher or diary farmer feeds a magnet each calf at branding time. The magnet settles in the rumen or reticulum and remains there for the life of the animal.
