SAIPA was established in 1966 as the exclusive Automobile production representative of French Citroen Company.
The name SAIPA exists from that time and it comes from the French abbreviation of Societe Annonyme Iranienne de Production Automobile.
SAIPA Automotive Corporation is the mother of SAIPA Group as one of the greatest Business Holdings in the Middle East.
The Group comprises of four large automakers, two major supply chain companies and more than 80 subsidiaries mainly various auto part producers.
SAIPA Group produces full range of vehicles such as passenger cars, pick-ups, minibuses, buses and various types of commercial light & heavy vehicles (with cooperation of Swedish VOLVO and Italian IVECO).
SAIPA Corporation has implemented joint ventures with major World Automakers such as Citroen, Nissan, Renault and KIA Motors.
SAIPA is one of the few largest automobile manufacturers in the Middle East. The main factory is located on the suburb of Tehran, Iran.
Since 1966, SAIPA has produced different passenger cars such as SABA, SAIPA111, SAIPA 132, SAIPA 141, Rio and Xantia as well as the New Local Brand, TIBA, which is on the way for mass production.
The production volume reached 520,000 vehicles in 2008 capturing more than 53% of the local market share in the passenger car segment and resulting in a turn-over of more than 4.2 billion US$.
According to the strategic plan of SAIPA, the production volume of the year 2011 will amount to 720,000 vehicles.
Production of Tondar90 (Persian name for Renault Logan), a joint venture with Renault- Nissan started in SAIPA Group in 2007 for local and international markets
Miniator, a fully indigenous Iranian car, was unveiled recently and will be on the road by the end of the current year.
SAIPA has been elected as Exemplary Exporter in 2003, 2005 and 2009 by Iran Trade Promotion Organization.
In the recent decade, SAIPA has developed its overseas market by penetrating regional and international markets in different territories; namely, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), North & West African countries, Middle East and Latin America.
Namely, SAIPAs major foreign markets includes: Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Algeria, Venezuela, Sudan, Ethiopia, Azerbaijan, Senegal, Libya, etc
SAIPA has established plants in two of her major markets based on Joint Ventures with local enterprises:
Syria
Venezuela
Also planned to re-export the products to the neighboring potential markets.

In line with the global trade transformations as well as the companys overseas marketing and sales policies, SAIPA is enthusiastically planning to expand her export market within new potential regions on the basis of win-win cooperation with eager partners.
